Knowing that I would be operating a moderately to thickly planted tank, I chose this substrate. This is one of the most well-respected substrate options for planted tanks, according to my extensive study (if you're not going planted, it doesn't really matter what you use, as long as it is good for the fish).It is said that simply performing a dirted tank is even better. However, as this was my first attempt at freshwater and planted tanks, I figured I would reserve that for a subsequent endeavor.I can say with certainty that using this material during tank setup drastically reduced the initial cycle time. A tank cycling so quickly was something I had never ever heard of! My tank took a week to completely cycle. With a couple zebra danios, I did a "fish in" cycle, but if you'd prefer, you could make a fishless cycle. Simply make sure you are monitoring your water parameters everyday and performing daily water changes if you decide to use the fish in technique. Unless your levels are abnormally high, 20% is good.

Weeks of reading reviews and studying this product made it very evident to me that the single most crucial step wasn't cleaning the living daylights out of it, but rather finding every possible solution. So I did precisely that, lifting my three bags in less than 15 minutes overall, and I was left with a gorgeous, cloud-free tank.I poured one of the bags into a 5-gallon bucket until it was halfway full. The photographs clearly show that the produced goo is not something you would EVER, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, introduce to an existing tank, or even a brand-new one! I emptied out that clay soup muck and half-filled the bucket once more. Until the water was 90% clear, I repeated that procedure about five more times. The Flourite was then spread out on a fitted sheet after I did this procedure twice more for the other two bags.I should note that I could have easily continued rinsing until the gravel was crystal clean, but I chose not to.Anyway, I dumped it into two buckets after about three hours in the sun. The Flourite was extremely dusty and had millions of microscopic particles. To reduce the dust to a minimum, I added water to each pail in the amount of a gallon before adding them to the tank. The water was then poured onto one of the rocks in my tank after I filled it up five gallons at a time. There was no cloud despite the gravel rustling as I quickly added my plants to help them take root. Yay!

I'm aware that this is fish gravel, but when I looked online for little faux turquoise, there wasn't anything reasonably priced in this size. I took a chance on it, and much to my amazement, the gravel was ideal for false turquoise and greatly aided me in my crafting endeavors. We're going to purchase more and use it to enhance the appearance of turquoise to a plain steer head we purchased. I created a gorgeous turquoise bowl out of it by adhering it to glass bowls. Although we don't have fish, this is unquestionably a fantastic craft item.
