Why would I start my analog chain with DSP if I was suspicious about the concept? I use a Prima Luna integrated tube amplifier without even tone controls! But the reviews from individuals I respect were extremely positive, so I ordered one. It is fantastic as a fully customizable phono pre. Any MM/MC cartridge will work with it, and there are no dip switches for loading or gain. The most adaptable phono pre is now available, and it's also reasonably priced. Add in the really helpful Mute option and the triple-threat Mono (I use a mono cart in my second tone arm). However, the plethora of additional features prove to be quite helpful. I left the settings at 0 for my more recent, high-end records (MoFi, AP/QRP, etc.). But when I listen to older music, particularly overly compressed rock albums, I can "fix" them such that I can enjoy them. This is one clever, adaptable, and potent product. There would be more consumer interest in high-end audio if more audio products provided this much for a reasonable price. Bravo, Mr. Parks!

My immediate impression is that this unit has a much greater impact on sound quality than the failing buffer it replaced. took the edge off of high frequency problems with my analytical system, which is generally optimistic, and my room, which compounds the issue. If I find any artifacts that I don't like later, I may switch in some RCA nos. 6AK5s. I had to purchase a two wire to AUX cable in order to connect the soundbar. The only thing I haven't yet worked out is why I need to crank up the TV volume considerably more than usual. I might have to put up with the problem. Don't misunderstand me; I can still turn up the volume to a very loud level without distortion. I purchased this to link a vintage Sony direct-drive television to a low-cost bookshelf in our bedroom. My boyfriend wanted to get rid of the massive component system to conserve space, but I was hesitant to reduce *that* much after learning how unreliable suitcase players appear to be. Considering that our bookshelf system is probably not going to last very long either, I was therefore cautious to invest too much in connecting to it. Because of the positive reviews and unbeatable pricing, I gambled on this tiny preamp. It's true that I had anticipated this to be a case of "too good to be true," yet even with the shoddy bookshelf system, there is no buzz or hiss. While simultaneously adding two more speakers, I initially tested the preamp using the system's subpar native speakers; I was astonished by how well the sound performed. The ground connection has a flat washer instead of the serrated type found on older systems with bare wires, and that is the only thing I would "complain" about. It's a minor criticism, but it would be wonderful to have the choice to replace that component out of the box given that there's probably a good chance you're using a preamp because you're connecting a historical component. As is the case with my specific machine (which my dad believes he purchased sometime in the '70s, for comparison), chunkier connectors may encounter a tighter fit due to the RCA ports' proximity to the upper casing's protruding lip. Another minor point, but one that may be important for you to take into account. Overall, we're pleased with the performance thus far.

My receiver's phono input sounded a touch underwhelming. Additionally, the left channel had a slightly worse sound quality than the right channel, which was really aggravating. It is true that this receiver is not the best in the world. I checked the cable connections first, then the cartridge alignment, anti-skate settings, and so forth. Even though there are still a few tiresome troubleshooting steps to complete, I decided to add a phono pre-amp in order to get rid of the phono input on my receiver. I bought a cheap preamp to test the turntable and cartridge when I revived my old Pioneer PL-115D turntable to connect to my new Sonos amplifier. Although the sound quality was pleasantly acceptable, I thought there might be potential for improvement with a better preamp. So after doing some research, I decided that this product from Pro-Ject would be a decent investment. As other reviewers have remarked, the design and manufacturing quality are great, and it's a big advantage that it will work with almost any cartridge if I decide to switch to a different turntable in the future. When I turned on one of my favorite classical records, I was pleasantly delighted to hear an enhancement in the sound of my turntable and vintage Ortofon cartridge that I had been unsure I would hear. At lower volumes, the sound quality is greater and sounds much fuller and crisper. This preamp isn't exactly cheap, but it's also not outrageously expensive. It appears to be a great option and definitely worth the money at this pricing point. It works perfectly with my brand-new Sonos amplifier and Polk Audio speakers.
