I installed the new pair in less than two minutes after removing the old ones. worked flawlessly. Before turning to the opposite side after installing the first one, I observed that it felt quite rigid during the installation process and I questioned whether I had chosen the right ones. These were definitely stronger than my old originals once the second one was installed, which is exactly why I was replacing them. I anticipated a struggle to close the hood, and even though my arms were accustomed to the previous struts' sluggish push and hood free-fall, it took me a moment to adjust the amount of pressure I applied to get the hood to close, which wasn't unusual.

Opening up this incredibly hefty hood takes strength and power. After I placed the left side, all I have to do is open the hatch and the hood will rise on its own. I started by installing one on the right side, and with just that one side, the hood was opening pretty well. They must now reach up because it goes all the way up and pull down with some force because they must set in. extremely satisfied Highly suggest.

After ten years, the struts on my Lear camper shell needed to be changed due to wear and tear. Despite the fact that the struts I was replacing with these were substantially stronger, they were nonetheless recommended (the Leer stock struts were 28-pounds, these are 40-pounds per strut).Installing was so simple that it took each piece less than 30 seconds to attach. When I first noticed how much force it took to open the back window with these attached, I was worried, but after a few days, they seemed to break in (or I was just getting used to the extra strong struts).I would purchase a pair closer to the stock 28-pounds if I had to buy them again, but these appear to work just fine.

In my new trailer, I set up these struts as shown underneath a queen bed. The installation instructions stated to install 4.79 to 5.12 inches from the lid's hinge confused me a little. The image depicts the exact opposite. When I installed it in the opposite direction from how it was supposed to be done and measured 4.5 inches back from the hinge on the fixed frame under the lid, it worked flawlessly and could lift the lid up to roughly 50 to 60 degrees. The 4.5 inch spacing utilizing the pair of struts worked out perfectly because my bed is a 60 x 75 with a soft mattress, but we use a hefty mattress topper. Given that I am unsure of how long they will survive, I purchased a spare set at the discounted price of $20 per pair, thus the three stars for durability.

Although the product was delivered as promised, it is too much pressure for my particular needs. It's a terrific piece if you are certain that this is what you are looking for. A star would be taken out if there were no instructions included with the product or available on the Suspa website...For the record, I required these to put a lift beneath our RV's bed. The storage area is 25" deep from the front to the back, which is more significant than the fact that it is a queen short. As I previously stated, this product did not come with any instructions, so I tried to improvise by following the directions on the hatch lift website. According to some of the other reviews posted here, it has worked for some people. However, keep in mind that there are a number of factors to take into account, like the size and weight of the bed, its size when opened, and the length of the strut itself. The Hatch Lift site did not function for me specifically, so I was forced to estimate everything. The end result was a bed that was not heavy enough to lower down on its own, so I had to make up with even less. In the end, I purchased some locks to lock the door once it had been forced open. Don't misunderstand me, I don't battle to shut the hatch door, but it will not remain down. In my particular circumstance, I believe some weaker struts would have been a better option. In conclusion, if this is the precise item you require, it's fantastic. I advise choosing the Hatch Lift kit if you need one for the hatch under a bed in an RV. When you buy the struts, brackets, and other hardware separately, the cost is almost exactly even, but with the Hatch Lift kit, you receive everything you need, including instructions for your particular set-up.

Once you have the hatch aligned at the right height, it cannot be any simpler. The sole worry is this. The tailgate is large. Quite heavy. You will want assistance if you are out of shape. To remove the old clips, all you'll need is a flat screwdriver. Once off, the new ones immediately turn on. Pushing a button to open or close the door after installation... Done...

Arrived on time and cost half as much as nearby stores The only tool necessary was a little straight screwdriver, which was used on a single lid pickup tool box. It took less time to swap out the old struts for the new ones than it did to prop open the lid. The mounts that come with it may be easily removed by pulling them out of a little notch in the ends that is in line with the rods. After removing the mounts, line up the screwdriver's holes with the fastened mounts (the ones on your tool box, or whatever you are doing). It doesn't take much to open, so be careful. DON'T take the clips off by trying to slide them up over the ends. and simply nudge it with your hand.

won't outlast my van! If you are tall enough, you could open the gate with one hand while removing or installing it with the other. My experience is that we used a cell flashlight to complete this task in a pitch-black parking lot. My Honda Oddessy with 255,000 miles has entirely failed original gate-opening components. The gate weighs a lot. Daughter, age 14, stood on a child's stool while holding the support gate fully open and using the other hand to beam her phone flashlight. I used a flat head to snap the old ones out and the new ones in. The second appeared to be so simple that my daughter wanted to attempt it. She removed the previous one and replaced it. You only need to see it once to know how to do it yourself.Prior to heading outside, I did view a YouTube video that was helpful because I had no idea how to do this.I've also heard complaints about how difficult it is to close. It does require muscle, but I am 105 pounds. and just 5'2" tall. I can manage it. risk of it slamming on my head and not using my trunk until I have a second person to hold it up are outweighed by the benefits. They're high-quality and durable. Not the shocks, I believe it takes more work to close the gate because of the weight of my van. Anyone who is physically fit and powerful could handle it. If someone has cp, arthritis, or skeletal/muscle problems, standing at a short height could be challenging. But once more, I think the gate's weight, not this product, is to blame. Additionally, I think it's important for safety that it be this way to prevent a slow descent due to weight.
