12mm Brass Nipples#

These have been used in place of all the aluminum nipples on the two rear wheels. After a few years, using the aluminum nipples to correct the wheels was no longer practicable. Long term, these nipples are tougher and turn much more easily.

I'm very happy I purchased these along with my spokes. Although nipples were supposed to be included, they weren't. These are good; after being greased with a drop of chain lube, they tensioned smoothly. These fit the black handled park tool wrench like a glove.

Shifter and brake tips fit 1mm to 1.8mm cables.

I used this spoke to rebuild the back wheel of a Schwinn "Speedster" bicycle using an internal 8-gear Sturmey-Archer hub. The nipples will love this. Reaching deep rims takes a lot of time. Just watch out that the nipple doesn't fall out in a deep rim. Hula-hoop rims shouldn't be used. ( Turn the rim so the valve hole is on the bottom, shake the rim up and down, twisting the rim both radially on the horizontal and vertical planes to aid in the removal of the nipple and washers.Put the nipples in from the bottom of the rim, hold them in place, and then turn the rim to get a few revolutions and stick the spoke in. It will prevent some heartache and annoyance. (I dropped two and quickly removed them)

These spoke nipples are another DT Swiss product that I really enjoy. If you want a wheel build that is incredibly sturdy, these nipples are the best option. These brass nipples are undoubtedly heavier than using alloy if you are an obsessive gram counter. Having stated that, I am not a racer and require tough attributes over weight savings for my wheels. I used them in conjunction with DT Swiss spokes, and I'm pleased with the result.
