Although fairly hot, Slap Ya Mama isn't overly salty. I use it to season meats like bison steaks, chicken, and shellfish as well as to sauté vegetables. It gives my wings the perfect amount of flavoring before I fried them.On rare occasions, I'll combine SYM and olive oil when prepping bison steaks for the grill and brush the mixture on the meat around 30 minutes beforehand. Yummy!

Was unsure of what to anticipate, but when a coworker brought this to work, I was certainly surprised. The flavor was fantastic and had a great kick. These days, I apply this to everything. I have a salt addiction, therefore this is a perfect substitute because it contains a lot less sodium. Don't be misled, though; if you're not a huge fan of spice, this has a genuine kick. This is perfect because I am. Everything I just mentioned was the usual fare. The HOT one is ideal for items when you only want to add a kick and not change the flavor, as it reduces flavor significantly but delivers heat as you would expect. This is the ideal addition to the chili that my wife cooks because it has amazing taste and no heat (so the kids can eat it). I have been able to significantly reduce my use of raw salt shakers thanks to this and crushed red pepper, so for me, this is a healthier substitute. :-)

utilize this stuff and have done so for over 40 years. Recently, it has become more difficult for me to locate the granular variety because supermarkets have so many other brands and varieties on the shelf. All three of the formats that Zatarain brand sells a crab boil—granular, liquid, and packets of herbs and spices wrapped in cheese cloth—are delicious, but when I make my own "Low Country" or Cajun vegetables and shellfish, I prefer the granular.

With the exception of dozens of pricey hot sauces, these Northern grocery companies discontinue carrying spicy products like Chachere's. For my Chachere's seasoning fix, I went to Amazon.Since I spent the 1980s residing in New Orleans, I have substituted Chachere's seasonings for table salt.Chachere's stands apart in part because to how little of the pepper is released into the atmosphere.Yes, some of the pepper will be released into the air if one puts Chachere's over a hot skillet or on top of newly popped popcorn in search of nasal cavities to spice up.Unlike many other spiced salts, which when shaken over meals send blizzards of pepper into the air, this salt does not do this.

There doesn't seem to be a middle ground when it comes to cajun seasoning—you either love it or you detest it. I use quite a bit of it, putting it on fish, veggies, soups, and even ice cream (hey...don't criticize it 'til you've tried it!). I would categorize myself as being in the "love" group. It is inexpensive to keep a lot of it on hand in this jar that is suitable for food service. This is definitely unnecessary if the typical spice bottle-sized jar would last you for years. However, if you use it frequently like I do, this is a good value.

While this isn't a negative thing, I would like my Tony's to last a little longer because it spills a little too much when sprinkled over food.
