Although I already bought the Lotus Pet Fountain from the same business, I decided to give this model a try. I'm very glad I did. Except for the sporadic whisper-silent sound of water hitting the stainless steel tray, it is equally quiet and you truly wouldn't even notice it was there. It's a complete improvement in terms of design. With this model, almost all of the water is "hidden" underneath the stainless steel tray, meaning that my cat can always access the freshest water and that there is nowhere for dust or insects to collect, in contrast to the other model's reservoir where small insects would drown or pet hairs would accumulate. You can easily replenish the fountain by gently pouring a jug of water onto the stainless steel tray and letting it filter through. There is a helpful indicator on the side of the fountain that lets you know how much water is remaining (or taking off the tray). Speaking of filters, the fountain comes with three that should last you several months. You also get a few brushes for any necessary cleaning.There is a constant blue lighting to the water, but it's really not distracting at all, and it really makes it easier to judge the water level anyhow, despite the fact that the instructions for the fountain claim that there is a switch to turn the LED light on and off. Regarding how your animals will adjust to the fountain: My cat initially protested in the same way he always does whenever a tiny little aspect of his life changes, but within a few hours he was already drinking from the new fountain, and now I can relax knowing that his water is always clean and fresh. There isn't much of a drawback to this product at the price it is now selling for.

This product is well crafted and beautifully packed. Functions as promised. Both of my cats quickly adjusted to it (after some hilarious investigating!) Cats appear to enjoy rushing water. The item is creative. Although created in China, the product is of high quality. Would advise.AN ADDENDUM I discovered two design issues in this product after using it for a time, one big and one minor.MAJOR: The cats managed to get the unit's top off. There is no "latch" to hold the top on to keep it in place, despite the fact that the design ensures that water still stays within the bottom (and does not spill out onto the floor). To hold the top in place, I was forced to use big rubber bands.MINOR: There is no practical method to gauge the water level while the machine is in use. I found that I could see the level by shining a flashlight through the bottom. After some time, I just started filling the top of the unit with a few glasses of water each day. This appeared to be sufficient. When it starts to run out, the motor pump does make some noise, though.

My wicked chihuahua enjoys destroying everything I buy for him. I had been considering fountains, but they all appeared to be designed for pets like cats or dogs that don't drink from them.This one seemed neat and sleek when I first got it. It appeared to be well-made, from the little led light to the lovely filter and the long cord, and I was certain that he wouldn't be distracted by any small bits he could tear off and mistake for toys or tradeables—items he traded for cheese.It was simple to assemble. I'm relieved that I don't have to worry about his water going stale because there is now a lovely stream of water. He finds peace in the sound of water running. While I don't want to hear the water as much, there are numerous settings that allow it to run more slowly. However, when he is racing around barking maniacally, I can turn it up so that he will stop and listen to it. The flower portion went on the top rack, but the remainder had to go on the bottom because it was too large. Nevertheless, it washed without any issues, showing no signs of warping. I adore how simple it is to maintain!August 2017 update: The fountain is still in perfect condition. It has held up well even though I still frequently run it through the dishwasher.Update: The fountain is still operating. October 2018.
