Best Clamp Meters in 2022

When it comes to measuring currents, a clamp meter is the optimal tool for the job. Also known as a current meter or current clamp, this handheld device can accurately measure the intensity of an electric current without needing to break the circuit. Clamp meters are essential tools for electricians and other professionals who need to measure current in a variety of settings.

Finding the best clamp meter for your needs can be a bit of a challenge. With so many options available, it’s important to take the time to do your research and compare different meters. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when looking for the best clamp meter.

First, consider the type of current you need to measure. Clamp meters come in a variety of sizes and shapes, and they are designed to measure different types of currents. For example, some are designed to measure AC current while others are better suited for measuring DC current. Knowing what type of current you need to measure will help you narrow down your options.

Next, consider the features you need. Different clamp meters offer different features, such as auto-ranging, data storage, and backlighting. Make sure to look for a meter that has the features you need to get accurate readings.

Finally, consider the price. Clamp meters can range from fairly inexpensive to fairly expensive, depending on their features and accuracy. Decide how much you’re willing to spend and look for a meter that fits within your budget.

By doing your research and comparing different clamp meters, you should be able to find the best one for your needs. With the right meter in hand, you’ll be able to measure current quickly and accurately.

I've heard fantastic things about Fluke as a company. Until I obtained this meter, I had no real understanding of their caliber. I use this to gauge power use by measuring amps on compressor lines. In comparison to the high-end equipment we employ for data logging, this is accurate.I'm glad I went with the pricy one! Please send me an email at ReviewOne23@gmail.com if you have any inquiries regarding this review.

The Tacklife CM05 clamp meter's sturdy design and substantial weight inspire trust. The test leads, manual, warranty card, and phillips screwdriver needed to change the batteries are all included in a very well-made, protected, cushioned, nylon container. Two Tacklife-branded AAA batteries are also provided; these batteries appear to be alkaline. The Tacklife batteries appear to be in good working order, but I intend to swap them out for Energizers and keep the Tacklife batteries as backups in the cushioned box.The cool-white illumination works well, and the four-digit display is simple to read. Readings on all of the scales I checked appear accurate and reliable, and the refresh rate is gratifyingly quick. By definition, the 6000 count resolution is quite good. The best I've seen is the non-contact voltage (NCV) function. It has never failed to correctly identify a live 120VAC line, socket, or power cord and is sensitive. It doesn't appear to be prone to false positives though. However, do not anticipate the NCV function to distinguish between individual active and dead wires in a multi-gang box or a congested fuse/breaker panel. The flashlight can illuminate a wire and check to see whether a breaker has tripped, but it doesn't do much else. Due to its positioning, it uses approximately half of the light only to illuminate the clamp's inside, which produces a pronounced shadow and blocks almost half of the beam. I didn't purchase a search and rescue light; therefore, I don't see this as a huge issue.Because the original CM05 clamp meter I received had problems reading AC frequency and duty cycle, I had previously criticized it. After that review was published, the vendor (AlicE) got in touch with me and provided me a replacement meter at no extra cost. Given that it is practically impossible to achieve a 0% fault rate, this evaluation accurately depicts the performance of the replacement meter.

I bought it because I wanted a clamp meter (amps) with the ability to test capacitors for temperature and (air conditioning) all in one compact instrument. I anticipate using it a lot because it seems to be of decent quality. My now-retired Vici VC99, which was not a clamp meter, managed to test near frozen water at 7 degrees and 7 volts off on a 120 volt a/c voltage check. unable to find a calibration method?

My previous Fluke Clamp meter had several issues, and Fluke informed me that they no longer support or manufacture that model, so I had to purchase the 376. I need to read DC amps quickly and precisely since I design, install, and troubleshoot solar systems. The meter here is flawless. It automatically ranges, and the higher ranges are enormous. The volt meters now provide a millivolt range in addition to a capacitor reader. It also includes a cable that can be used to read amperage by looping it around a big or difficult-to-reach conductor.Although these meters aren't inexpensive, they are made to last and radiate quality.

This small meter is quite remarkable. It seems heavy and sturdy, and the edges of the meter have a rubbery feel to them.In addition, it has a wider range of capacitance and ohms than my Fluke 902.A meter in my pocket is better than one in the vehicle, hence the fact that it fits comfortably in my shirt pocket will greatly increase the value of this device. In the two days I've had it, I've used it to measure non-contact voltage, capacitance, Ohms, AC voltage, and AC amperage.Cons of this product: The dial doesn't feel as sturdy as my Fluke 902 or Klein CL2300 (but those meters cost many times the price). It should be able to monitor microamps DC to test flame rectification, in my opinion.

Easy to use, with a polished appearance. My car battery was acting up not too long ago, so I took out this tiny meter and clamped the "crawish-like" clamps onto one of the battery connections. (Never unplug the terminal from the automobile battery. Without touching any metal, this device can read amps.) I turned the meter to the amp setting, fired up the engine, and examined the readout. Bingo!. The display showed that amps were flowing, proving that the alternator was truly in operation. (Numbers were increasing) I then looked at the battery. As soon as the car was off, the meter cables were removed, the easy-to-read knob on the meter was turned to the DC setting, the ends of the red and black wires were connected to the battery's red ( ) and black (--) terminals, and the meter's reading was then examined. (Car starts up) The display showed 12.5 V. Next. turned on the AC fan and all the lights. When I looked to see what the meter was doing, I saw that it was swiftly dropping to 9 V. faulty batteryI restarted the car and noticed that although the alternator was charging the battery, it was losing its charge. A quick check that would take under five minutes for someone without previous mechanical experience I used one of those little lithium polymer batteries I purchased on Amazon to restart the car. (What a fantastic item to keep in your glove box!) Problem solved after purchasing a new battery at the auto parts store! I appreciate this meter. I then clamped the meter on the power connection that connected my Central Air outside condenser unit to the AC electrical box and discovered that the compressor was drawing far too many amps. We later discovered that one of my central AC units needed to be repaired after phoning the repairman. Hey, I'll have to check on my wife the next time to see how she's doing. We'd probably end up saving a lot of money.

I have used it quite a bit in my line of work already, and I have plans to upgrade in the future. It arrived with all the components as described and performed extremely well. The lack of a backlight on this meter disappointed me. Overall, a fine tool, but I was definitely disappointed that this one didn't have a backlight like the $50 Kline I used for years.

fantastic amp probe Its portability makes it ideal for measuring the amperage of a water well while the pump is operating. Although the clamps are not as small as I would like, it is a modest price to pay given the equipment's accuracy. The return on investment is tremendous. Shipping was quite quick and effective.
