Review:

A strong, lightweight ascender that is affordable for everyone. In order to get a leg up and conserve energy, I hung a foot loop through the wide bottom hole of mine. I use it with 12 mm rope and have had no problems with it slipping or harming rope at all. Don't rely on it as your main source of support, but I do keep mine available as a safety net in case things don't work out. I wish this business will produce a replica of the two-handed Petzl ascender in the form of a butterfly!

I also own one of the more affordable hand ascenders. For this one, I advise investing a little more. Compared to off-brands, the lock-back lever is significantly safer and simpler to use because it can be operated with with one hand. Everything fits better and appears to have been put together much better.

This will be used by me to go deer hunting. I bought one to go on a lanyard, and I liked it so much that I bought another one so I could climb and descend a full lifeline. These are useful for training at modest heights while assuming a hunter's safety line to the ground. I want to know that I can safely do a self-rescue in the case of a fall, and I can with these. I attempted to use the HSS prusik knot for descending, but I was unable to make it slide once it was supported by my entire weight. I can release the tension from the prusik and use it in conjunction with the Ropeman1 to inch-worm my way down the rope if I bring at least one of these along (along with an extra climbing carabiner and my suspension relief strap). If not, you'll need to master the brake and squat technique used by Navy Seals and Marines to climb a rope. Please utilize a safety rope and take the time to plan (and test) a safe way to descend to the ground if you hunt from an elevated location. I believe that the Ropeman is a step in the right direction, but that all hunter safety measures still need to catch up to the standards used by climbers and arborists.

Review:

It appears to be quite sturdy and very nicely crafted.I want to emphasize two things:A) Because the teeth are so big and sharp, it's really difficult to release the ascender. Once you get used to it, though, it's not an issue, although it will shorten the rope's lifespan.B) In comparison to a PETZEL, the breaking system is likewise a little bit abrasive.Still worthy of a 4 out of 5 stars from me, given the cost. What you pay for, you get!NEWS REVIEW: pleased with the purchase. I conducted tests outside. Works perfectly!

6. Camp USA Lift Ascender

Camp USA Lift Ascender

Review:

I've used a lot of ascenders; most of them are interchangeable and function in essentially the same manner. This one has the advantage of being compact, light, and extremely simple; I can't yet comment on how well it holds up to use. (I wouldn't use one of them by itself, save maybe for establishing issues on a climbing wall, but that goes for any ascender — always use two...)
