Pros: The standard cooler keeps temperatures around 75C when gaming for hours with a 4.00Ghz OC at 1.29V; fantastic price to performance ratio; my old 4670 was bottlenecking several games; now my GTX 1070 can run at full speed; highly stable compared to 1st Gen Ryzen-Successful overclocking to 4.2GHz, but the stock cooler makes it unfeasible temperature-wise.The cooler's installation was incredibly quick and uncomplicated.GTA Online, AC:Origins, and other games are no longer slowed down by my old 4670; 4 cores just do not seem to be enough anymore. The RGB cooler is extremely good; I love that I can customize it to match the orange throughout my case. Recently, I moved up from a 1700X to a 2700X. The 2700X's (4Ghz) stock clock rates are 500Mhz quicker than my 1700X's under full load (3.5Ghz). And by using four 8GB DDR4 modules, the speed of DDR4 memory was boosted from 2933 to 3200Mhz. For me, the upgrading was worthwhile because of both of these enhancements. Utilizing AMD Ryzen Master Utility, activate Gaming Mode to dynamically increase CPU clock speeds up to 4.3Ghz! AMD has undoubtedly excelled themselves this time. I have owned Intel processors ranging from the 80386 (386) to the 6700k Skylake, AMD Athlon 64, Ryzen 1700, and I recently updated to the 3900x. Even Adobe Lightroom is faster because to the huge increase in IPC performance. Lightroom(! ), do you realize how difficult it is to move that glacier? What a fantastic CPU.Some people have complained that there isn't much room for overclocking. The only reason I've ever overclocked a CPU before is because they were underperforming. I don't think it's worth it to me to overclock this CPU because it seems to get every last bit of performance out of it. Its performance is incredible right out of the box, but I believe that the early BIOS versions from motherboard makers were operating the voltage a little too high by default. I tried setting it at 1.3 volts, but the performance of the boost significantly dropped. I decided to leave it on auto with a -.1125 offset because I do not perceive a performance hit (Cinebench).

I'm glad to see that it's now available at MSRP. I purchased the 3700x to replace a broken 6700k system. Failure of the ASUS GENE VIII motherboard. It was therefore time to upgrade and switch back to AMD. The AMD FX-8350 was the last AMD component I had in 2012. The cinebench 15 score for the 3700x ranged from 850 to 2145, so that's something.Edit: 7/30/2019Docking two stars Even though the chip is excellent, it runs too hot when idle, reaching 40 C on an aio and 24 C ambient.I don't mind my computer getting warm while it's not in use, but I do during games, etc.The machine constantly boosts its idle speed to 4.2 GHz.It appears as though it is unable to slow down on its own (even on AMD balanced profile, latest Win 10 1903).The temp problem can be fixed by turning off boost, but that is not an option.I hope the early adopter tax is fixed because I believe this.Another possibility is that the ASUS board uses excessive voltages.Edit: 7/31/2019 1 star, I got what I wanted with the Windows power saver power plan.When idle, the core voltage is 0.944 V rather than the absurd 1.45 V when the environment is 25 C.Although there is some standby performance loss, it's acceptable.Edit: As of 9/16/2019, 1 star, the ABBA bios update has resolved my issue with idle power.It only required a few adjustments.

By choosing this processor over the i5-9600k, you may save about $100. Because it is locked, the i5-9400F cannot be overclocked. It operates at 2.9 GHz and has a 4.0 GHz throttle. I'm enjoying it thus far, but the overclocking monster in me wishes I had spent more money. When in reality, this CPU is excellent and easily handles all I throw at it. My memory bus was sped up by pairing it with a Gigabyte Z390 UD and some 3200 MHz DDR4! Gaming is gorgeous with an XFX RX580 graphics card added! Since this CPU is rated at only 65 watts, it runs cool so I went with a single radiator and everything runs very cool, so if you're on a budget, this CPU is the way to go! $100 saved will mostly pay for your memory, an SSD, or even your liquid cooler, which by the way doesn't have to be a double-wide radiator!
