Best Curry Powders in 2022
Curry powder is a spice blend that is integral to many Indian, Asian, and Middle Eastern dishes. It is a mixture of spices that vary in both flavor and heat, making it a versatile staple for many cooks. But with so many curry powders on the market, it can be confusing to figure out which one is the best.
When looking for the best curry powder, start by considering how you plan to use it. Curry powders vary in both flavor and heat, so depending on the dish you’re making, you may want to go for a milder or spicier version.
The next factor to consider is the ingredients. Many store-bought curry powders contain a range of spices, such as coriander, cumin, turmeric, ginger, and fenugreek. However, some also contain additives and preservatives, which you may want to avoid. It’s best to opt for a brand that is organic and contains only natural ingredients.
When it comes to buying curry powder, you may also want to look for brands that source their spices from specific regions. For example, some curry powders are sourced from India, while others are sourced from Sri Lanka. This can make a difference in the flavor of the curry powder, so it’s worth bearing in mind.
Finally, price is also an important factor to consider. Curry powders vary in price from as little as a few dollars to upwards of $20 or more. So, it’s worth doing your research to find a curry powder that fits your budget and still meets your flavor and quality standards.
Finding the best curry powder for your needs can be a daunting task. But by taking into account factors like flavor, ingredients, sourcing, and price, you can find a curry powder that is sure to add a delicious flavor to any dish.

It works for me!Okay, so I'm vegan and I use this with elbow macaroni noodles or rice. Along with sea salt, extra virgin olive oil, and the large-size versions of McCormick's garlic powder and onion powder. Curry isn't something I use frequently. I don't use it to create elaborate dishes. I like basic meals since I am a simple guy. 😊I had many of the smaller Simply Organic glass bottles preserved, so I decanted the curry powder, garlic, and onion into those. Because I'm single and my cat doesn't like curry, these larger sizes all last me a fair amount of time.Although I haven't tried many curry powders, I'd hazard to say that this one is definitely on the milder side. It isn't bland and it's not extremely hot or spicy. It's appropriate (for me).One sort of warning: This IS a genuine "powder." I use granulated garlic and onion powders, which are free-flowing. Granulated curry powder is not available in our area; I'm not even sure whether it is ever produced. It's a fine, dry, powdery substance. I was always advised to add about a teaspoon (or more, depending on the size of your container) of UNCOOKED DRY WHITE RICE to absorb any moisture in damp or humid conditions, or perhaps for longer periods of storage in general. This helps prevent clumping, at least to some extent.Just be certain that your shaker's openings aren't big enough for the rice to fit through.

So you chop your chicken, add some crushed garlic to some olive oil, organic plain yogurt, and madras spice. Take the chicken out after a few hours and prepare kabobs. When I add vegetables in between, they cook to a golden-brown coating that is delicious and healthful when served over rice. fantastic for leftovers as well. The next day, they improve much more.

This is really excellent material! It completely meets my expectations, and I purchased it because of the positive reviews. It contains less cumin and fenugreek than grocery store blends, which gives it a smoother, gentler, and, in my opinion, far finer flavor. However, despite being mild, it has a lot of flavor, and you don't need much of it to give a dish the right degree of heat. The cost is also a lot lower than what you would pay for the little jars at the supermarket. Additionally, compared to other of the bags I've purchased at my neighborhood Indian markets, this blend appears much fresher. (Maybe that's just me, but it's still important to say.)If you prefer curries made in the Indian way, I highly recommend it!

Excellent blend. I'm happy I found it. I enjoy cooking soup for lunch or dinner during the colder months. I've been heating up some curry powder and adding it to Trader Joe's Roasted Red Pepper Tomato Soup. It's a nice supper with just a touch of cream. Due to the fact that the curry powder blend was not organic, Trader Joe's stopped carrying it. I occasionally add curry powder to my rice as it cooks to give it a pleasant spicy flavor. Curry powder also makes my house smell amazing!
5. CHIEF CURRY POWDER 500G, 17.5 OZ MADE IN TRINIDAD & TOBAGO
Review:
Gritty other curry powders are available. For other curries to lose their natural grit, coconut milk or a similar ingredient must be added. not Chief however! I have yet to discover a curry that tastes as good yet isn't as gritty or just a little wrong. Chief curry is silky in contrast. I am aware that my description is strange. But I'm at a loss on how else to phrase it. In summary, Chief is the only curry that doesn't require anything to mask the acrid flavor.

My wife Sonja has provided the following feedback: â€oe For more than five years, I've been purchasing Sun Brands Madras Curry Powder mix. It has a lingering, mellow, and elegant scent and flavor. Most importantly, it has consistently had good quality for as long as I have been purchasing it. I use it in my roasted meats, lentil and other cream soups, as well as a variety of vegetarian meals, particularly ones that contain coconut milk. It always improves the flavor and lends a sense of mystery to all of my recipes. As a gift for my friends who reside in the European Union as well as my family who reside in Canada and Australia, I also send or bring Sun Brands Madrs Curry. As long as it is being sold by Amazon or another seller, I will continue to purchase it. â€

It was not at all hot, which was somewhat disappointing. We ended up adding cayenne pepper to our chicken curry because we were hoping for something more "explosive." Having said that, the curry flavor is excellent. The flavor starts out being a little intense but then calms down to a very pleasant lingering flavor. Two days later, leftovers (what little there normally is) are still recognizable. Just wish there was more heat to open your eyes. You won't be let down by the flavor, though. Without a doubt, we'll purchase this item again.NEWS: FEBRUARY 2018We purchased this curry about a year ago, and since then, we have seen something somewhat unexpected. We've used approximately half of the jar and noticed that the heat increases after giving the curry a little toss before adding it to whatever. Not enough to blow your ears off, mind you, but just enough that my spouse stated "With time, this curry has grown hotter. Nice, really nice! ". That is a selling point all by itself. Furthermore, even after a year of use, the flavor is still excellent. I raise my star rating from four to five. In conclusion, this is some "excellent stuff," we'll buy it again without a doubt, and if you like curry, I do suggest buying it.

Although quite mild, Jackie's Kitchen curry powder has a pleasant flavor. This is not the curry for you if you love strong flavors; but, if you prefer moderate spices, this is the dish for you. Since it is organic, any agricultural toxins that might otherwise be there won't be present. To give my hummus and tuna fish salad a little extra flair, I like to add a little. I occasionally include a bit when creating my own salad dressings and egg salad. This can be a good option if curry is typically too spicy for you.
