Since recently, I have begun utilizing reusable straws (washing old McD ones or buying the rigid plastic Tervis ones). For my morning coffee or tea, however, they were either too flimsy or too large and rigid for the smaller lid apertures. The straws are ideal. They are slim, so don't anticipate having the same delightful Coke-drinking experience as you would with a McD's straw, but they work great for water, hot/iced tea, coffee, and mixed drinks. They are adaptable enough to squeeze through the narrow openings on the lids made by other manufacturers, including Yeti and Drink Tanks (this is where the rigid, wide plastic Tervis straws fail). To use them at work or a restaurant, I may tie them in a knot and put them in a bag. For cleaning, the tiny squeegee tool is a welcome addition (I prefer it over the brush you get with other straws). The family may claim their own color thanks to the interesting colors. I would suggest the broad version if you're looking for a straw for smoothies, milkshakes, or Cokes. Although I have tried bamboo and stainless steel straws, these are by far my favorite (I think I may give away the others).

I had anticipated these straws to be smaller than a typical drinking straw, but they are larger, more akin to those seen in milkshakes. To replace the reusable plastic straw from one of my reusable plastic cups was one of the main reasons I purchased them. When I unintentionally pulled my bag out over the straw in my cup holder, the previous one broke. These straws are excellent, while I did have to press one of them into the top of the cup, the bendability is really lovely. Compared to the tougher plastic ones, it seems more like a regular straw, in my opinion. I've only used it for my water cup so far, so cleaning hasn't been a problem, but it's wide enough that a pipe cleaner can easily fit through.
