Best Desktop Photo Printers in 2022

Are you looking for the best desktop photo printer? With so many options on the market, it can be difficult to choose the perfect printer for your needs. Whether you’re printing photos for a scrapbook or for a special occasion, you want to make sure you get the best quality prints possible.

When it comes to desktop photo printers, the first thing to consider is the resolution and quality of the print. Look for models that offer a resolution of at least 1200 x 1200 dpi and a minimum of 4-color printing. This will ensure that your photos will look their best when printed. The higher the resolution and the more colors available, the better the quality of the prints.

Another factor to consider is the type of paper you’ll be using. Some models are made to work with specific types of paper, such as glossy or matte. If you’re looking to print a variety of photos, you’ll want to make sure the printer can handle a variety of paper types.

In addition to the resolution and paper type, you’ll also want to take into account the speed of the printer. Some models can produce prints in as little as 15 seconds, while others may take a few minutes. If you’re looking to print photos in a hurry, you may want to look for a model that prints quickly.

Finally, consider the cost of the printer and the cost of the ink. Some models are designed to use less ink than others, so you may be able to save money in the long run by going with a model that uses less ink.

By considering these factors, you’ll be able to find the best desktop photo printer for your needs. Once you’ve found the perfect model, you’ll be ready to start producing beautiful prints in no time.

Review:

I use this inside my truck as a portable printer. This printer offers a "wireless direct" capability that allows you to print extremely effortlessly from your iPhone or iPad by creating your own WiFi signal. I can wirelessly and simply print directly from my iPhone 4.It takes ten minutes to set up, has simple and effective software, and clear instructions. It includes an extremely clear LCD screen that you can use to scroll through the menu and see what's happening.Awesome! Get this instead of a Canon. I purchased a Canon MG3220 and discovered that it required local WiFi. Even after I set it up, it only worked occasionally.THE CHEAPEST WAY TO REPLACE YOUR BLACK INK CARTRIDGE IS TO: Purchase a refill kit for HP printers, the InkTec HPI-1061D. I've tried their black refill kit, which is currently only $11.95 when purchased through Amazon Prime. With this $12 kit, I was able to simply replace my black cartridge ten times. For comparison, an HP cartridge costs $30 while costing $1.20. Even though your printer and computer may indicate that the black cartridge is low on ink, the print quality is still excellent. I am a firm believer in the DIY ink refill kits.2018 update: I've had this printer for over 5-1/2 years now, I just realized. I still print virtually daily for an eBay business that includes, among other things, shipping labels. Since then, I've learned to purchase a 16 ounce bottle of black ink in bulk and use the kit's included syringe to inject it into my cartridge. quite affordable.

This printer/scanner combo is intended for light-duty or household use. The footprint of the printer is 14.5 by 12 by 6 inches, and the scanning glass is 9 by 12 inches. There has a 3" touch screen for controls. There are 5 different ink tanks for inks, all of which come in XL and XXL sizes. It has two paper feeds, one in the front and one in the back, and each can hold 100 sheets of plain paper or 20 sheets of photo paper. It can print on 3.5x3.5", 4x4", 5x5", 5x7", 8.5x11", 8.5x14", and US No. 10 (4.1x9.5") envelopes, among other sizes. It can print on cards, luster paper, matte photo paper, plain paper, high resolution paper, glossy photo paper, cards, and semi-gloss photo paper. It can also print on iron-on transfers. It can print using Apple AirPrint, Canon Print, Google Cloud Print, Mopria Print Service, and Wireless PictBridge and is entirely wireless. It is compatible with Windows (Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 7 SP1), Mac: (Mac OS X v10.10.5 - macOS v10.13, iOS, Android, Windows 10 Mobile, and Amazon Fire; Windows XP is not supported. It is rated for 15 black-and-white pages per minute, 10 color pages per minute, and 26 seconds per image for photographs. It features an 8 bit color resolution of 1200 x 2400 dpi. A set of five ink tanks, a sample pack of three sheets of glossy photo paper, a CD containing drivers and My Image Garden software, a power cord, and an 8-page paper quickstart handbook with instructions in English and Spanish are all included in the package. The simplicity of setting up this printer pleased me. I simply slipped the provided CD ROM into my Windows 7 desktop PC, and the setup application turned on and led the procedure from there. I was able to download the drivers from the Canon website and install them on the other machines in my home. Additionally, I was able to print using the Canon Print Inkjet/SELPHY app and connect my Android phone. Unlike many printers I've installed, this one's setup was quick and easy, and once it was done, I could print from any device. This PIXMA printer produces superb photo prints, much like the previous models I've tried. This one's ability to natively print square images is what I find to be incredibly appealing. Before, I had to cut the paper after the pictures were made to get square prints, which wasted paper and didn't always look well. For comparable inkjet printers, the ink prices average out to roughly 12.7 cents each color print. Given that you receive the prints right away and don't have to pay shipping, that's pretty good value in comparison to the price of delivering photo prints to other people. I've used this printer to print on both T-shirt transfers and 8x10 glossy photo paper, and I'm extremely happy with the results. The printer works well as a photocopier or black-and-white printer as well. Black-and-white printing ink costs roughly 4.1 cents per page, which is significantly more than what my laser printer costs. So, I mainly use this printer to print photos, which it does quite well. Even without a computer nearby, this printer's immediate copy button comes in quite helpful for quickly creating color or black and white photocopies. Simply place your original on the glass, hit copy, and presto—your copy appears. Using the touchscreen instructions, you may decide whether to make the prints larger or smaller. Auto exposure, borderless copy, frame erase copy, ID Card, and fit to page are just a few of the built-in copy features. You can't print or scan directly to or from SD cards with this printer because it doesn't have SD card reading, which is unfortunate because I frequently use that capability on my laser printer. Overall, this is an affordable printer that prints excellent photos quickly.

This printer is great. I required a device that would allow me to print from my iPad. My expectations were exceeded by this. Setup is not that difficult. The low ink light first displays after only a few prints, as others have noted, but if you ignore it and wait for it to run out fully, you will be surprised at how much ink is left after that. The cartridges that it came with in October are still working for me. After only a few weeks, I received my first low ink alarm. Therefore, I hastily bought ink refills but made the decision to hold off until the original cartridges were empty. They continue to print as if they have new ink. So, despite the negative evaluations of the ink, I still think it's the best value. I would have given 5 stars, but configuring the fax is a bit complex, and I'm not sure if I've got it set correctly. If I notice that the fax is operating properly, I'll probably switch to a 5*.

Purchased the white model, which I like, however the printer is noisy and shakes and rattles when printing. It sounds like it's ready to explode. Don't worry about the slowness; it's only for household usage. Since my older Apple Mac wouldn't let me fully download the software, I'm giving 4 stars rather than 3 because it really prints from my phone, which was fantastic. It had to be connected via my husband's more modern Mac.The main problem is that the control panel isn't lighted, making it difficult to read without light coming from above. Additionally, it does not fit well in a desk with a cupboard, thus it is exposed.I'm not particularly tech-savvy, but I can use gadgets; it just felt difficult to set up WiFi and get the phone's printing feature to function. Today when my husband tried to print, his Mac's printer needed to be reconfigured due to user mistake. Perhaps, but it's a pain!

Review:

Really like this printer so far, with one exception. Printing several pages is not possible. Each page must be placed on the platen, removed, and then the subsequent page placed. Although it's not a particularly costly printer, for $100 I would have anticipated being able to print several pages without having to stand in front of the printer all the time. Unlike the HP I'm replacing with this printer, setup was simple, and the printer "talks" to my computer. With the exception of the one glitch, which I'll just have to deal with, I think I'm going to really like this printer. I haven't tried connecting with a phone or tablet yet, but I anticipate that will be just as simple. Be gentle when raising the platen cover because it is a little weak.

Review:

In order to find a mid-range All-In-One printer that could print photos nicely, had a good scanner, was wireless, and could be used to print from an iPhone or iPad, I started my search. When I was browsing through the choices, it was nearly hard to find one that people didn't dislike in some way, which was driving me insane! Then, I saw this on the Canon website, which was so brand-new that nobody has had a chance to criticize it yet! Given that it was just $100, and it only had a few reviews on Amazon, most of them were 5 stars, I decided it was worth a go. I've had it for five days, and it is just as described. Duplex printing, a significant paper saver, extremely good print quality, and a rear tray you can fill with photo paper to eliminate the inconvenience of switching between plain paper and photo paper anytime you wish to print photos are all features of this printer. It also connects to my WiFi network, which is a HUGE benefit as my previous printer would not connect unless the security was turned off. It also prints from my iPad and iPhone! RESULT! Even though it's only been five days, I'm already incredibly content.
