Since I've been playing the cello for about ten years, the Xeros endpin anchor has been my go-to method for keeping my endpin in place. It is more stable than doughnuts and strong enough to be used for many years.I recently had to buy a new one because I misplaced mine. Of course, I went with another Xeros. The anchor I lost had a thick, durable plastic D ring to fasten it to the chair leg, which I prefer over the slimmer plastic O rings like the one pictured. This made me a little sad. However, when I got there, I discovered that the anchor had obviously been updated, this time with a huge aluminum D ring in the shape of a carabiner. I can now attach my anchor onto my cello case and, hopefully, not lose it again because to its practicality and low cost (you can bend it with your hands if you try).Users of the plastic D and O ring designs may recall the treaded rubber grip on the bottom of the endpin cup, which is another distinction I discovered. While the smooth rubber grip on this new aluminum D carabiner version adheres to clean floors quite well, it may have issues with dusty or muddy floors. If this is true—which will be determined by further testing—I'd still choose to use the Xeros above any other strap or doughnut.
