I had been using an old fanny pack as a pommel bag for my saddle for a number of years. It was functional but difficult to attach to or remove from the saddle. That issue will be resolved by this pommel bag. I can't keep my cell phone separate from my tubes of pesticide, sunscreen, and sunglasses because there is only one main compartment in it (in a case). So I took the outside pouch from my old fanny pack and attached it to the front of this pommel bag by sewing it on. Now it's ideal for my purposes! It can be used to hold the same goods on my mountain bike by crossing the clips. The pommel bag is large enough to fit all 4 of these specific goods as well as a point-and-shoot camera without the additional pouch that I stitched onto the front of the bag (but it would be a bit of a tight squeeze). They all fit when I tried them, but I'd be concerned about scratching the phone's face while riding, and it's challenging to get anything out with one hand. (If you don't intend to access the phone or camera while riding, place them in old ankle socks to safeguard them.)

I really adore this stuff! It is ideal for lengthy rides. I typically bring a bandana, a pocket knife, a protein bar, chapstick, and a few horse goodies. All of this readily fits. Even my younger, more spooky horses aren't concerned by the zipper because of how very quiet it is. My saddle doesn't appear to have any scratches or scuffs. It no longer hangs down at all from my horse's withers after correcting the straps. It's both big enough to hold the few things I listed and small enough to never get in the way.

Actually, I purchased the entire set, which included the cantle bag and horn bag that matched. On my horse, they look really lovely and sharp! The bags' cheap plastic zippers, which are easily detachable and require unzipping and rezipping to fix, are my sole criticism. Most saddle bags are very excellent. My 33 ounce CamelBak water bottle fits snugly in the water bottle holders. The zippers and bags appear to be quite durable. I did, however, once stumble about and discover my nearly full water bottle on the ground. My water bottle slipped out of the cup holder when the stitching at the bottom came undone. The opposite side is still whole. It disappoints me that I will need to strengthen the stitches.For back cinch tie downs, there are plastic D-rings on the sides. In general, I'm glad I made this purchase.

They were designed for a horse, but I use them on my e-bike, so to mimic a horse's back, I lay a bag with a jacket or backpack inside under the saddlebag and secure it with bungie cords or straps. That way, I can swiftly carry it inside. For me, it works out perfectly!
