Review:

For refinishing some wooden plates my parents purchased 60 years ago while stationed in Puerto Rico, I purchased this oil and the paste. I visited their website and read the care instructions after reading a ton of comments, both positive and negative. The oil is should be applied first. The paste should be applied after the "shampoo" as a "sealer," according to the website, to seal in the moisture and clean the surface. Tung oil is not mentioned anywhere on their website, despite the fact that navy ships were its initial intended usage. I have used tung oil to seal wood for outdoor use in the past. Regarding the mystery oil, the linseed fragrance was incredibly faint, but I could not really smell any orange. Many of the boards had a highly bleached appearance before the treatment, and although they had only received one treatment, I did not notice any orange tint. It required numerous coatings of oil because of the boards' excessive dryness before they stopped soaking up the oil like sponges. The cream provided the boards a great, silky hand that wasn't oily. I'd heartily recommend this item, but I'd also advise getting the cream that the website suggests. For your pleasure, I have included a before and after picture of one of the boards.

Review:

Excellent oil for carbon steel knives. Only a few drops of this oil should be applied to a lint-free fabric cloth for effective use. Apply a thin layer of oil on the blade with caution, and then gently wipe it with a different clean cloth. All that is required is a "nano-layer," as I like to call it. Usage this oil after every use, once it has been well cleaned and dried. If you clean and oil the knife right away after using it, you can prevent discolouration from your knives 100% of the time. A knife will lose its polish and start to pit if it is left out to dry while being damp and gross.

Review:

For the purpose of finishing some new butcher block countertops I was putting in my home, I bought the cream and the oil from John Boos. I had a few specifications for the item. As I don't know where the ingredients in the butcher clock mixes sold in large box stores come from, I first wanted it to be made in the USA. Second, I desired a natural finish I could use for both cutting and cooking (making pasta etc). Boos, which is made of natural beeswax and mineral oil, fits that criteria.Prior to installing the countertops, I completed all preparation work and initial coats for the application. The counters were cut, the edges were rounded, sanded to a 180 grit, and then oil was applied. With a foam brush, I applied three layers of oil, then over the next six hours as it dried, I added more. After being left overnight, wipe down. I let the cream sit for eight hours after liberally applying it to the surface in the manner of buffing wax into a car surface. After cleaning, buff out any remaining oil or wax. The maple turned out brilliantly, as you can see in the images, despite the fact that it required multiple cloths (I used old tube socks because they work great for applying oil and paint). It has a smooth finish, water beading, and no aftertaste—not that there was one when it was applied, either.

Review:

For my axe and knives, a light honing oil was required. Smaller bottles have become quite pricey, therefore I made the decision to purchase a larger bottle if it was more cost-effective. We now have Thirteen Chefs. The pricing drew me in, but Made in America won me over. It effectively removes metal dust from my triple stone system and axe puck without leaving behind any sticky or gooey residue. I started using it on my kitchen knives as well, and the results are just as good.

5. KPL Knife Pivot Lube Knife Oil

To reduce wear and friction, synthetic formulation retains impurities like dirt, grit, and dust in suspension.

Pick KPL for lightning-fast deployment and fall-shut smoothness.#

Review:

I was blown away when I bought this on the advice of a well-known expert knife sharpener/tuner in the knife world. So far, I've used it on my Hinderer with PB, Teflon, and bearings, and compared to the oil I was using, it much enhanced the action of each. Additionally, I changed the CRK grease in my Sebenza, and that was a huge improvement. After about a week, the grease would become clogged and the hydraulic feel would turn quite sticky/jumpy. Knives open and close much more satisfyingly thanks to this KPL, which keeps surfaces more cleaner. Exceptional cost as compared to nano oil.

Review:

Butcher block countertops by John Boos were just installed. Since they are fresh and absorbing a lot, I have been oiling them frequently. The first few times I used a rag or paper towel, it felt like most of the liquid was soaking into the cloth instead of touching the wood. Furthermore, it didn't appear like there was much oil left on the wood to soak up overnight as instructed. Today, this applicator was delivered, so I made the decision to try it out. I started by using a lot less oil. Second, applying was considerably quicker and easier. Thirdly, I can see a great coating of oil on the countertop, so I know it will absorb over night and I can wipe off extra in the morning. It didn't seem like there would be much on the counter to get absorbed before using the applicator. I can't stress how much I like this. Some people may say it's expensive, but I know I'll save money by not having to buy as much oil. My new countertops will need to be re-oiled pretty frequently, and by doing so, it will be incredibly easy and yield much better outcomes.

You can use mineral oil, which is far less expensive, yes. You can use several brands, but WHY? WHY wouldn't you spend the extra money and use this if you have an expensive butcher board and you cut your food on it? It is really incredible!I've tried a lot of products, but I can't get enough of John Boos' oil. After drying the butcher block, I squeeze some oil onto it and spread it with my hand, palm facing down. I let it sit (overnight is preferable), and in the morning, I discovered that it had gotten inside the wood. The John Boos Board Cream with Beeswax is next coated. After that, I can tell the block is safe for food and it looks better than new.You can apply it using a rag or paper towel, but I find that using my palm works best. It distributes the oil and cream more effectively, and the oil goes where I want it to go—into the wood—rather than into the cloth or paper towel.Give it a try; you'll love it!You'll experience immediate satisfaction and results.

This is ideal for what I require as a typical moron like myself. In the previous century, when I was a cook, I used to spend many hours manually sharpening my knives on a stone. I've discovered that I no longer have the time or space for it. But I prefer razor-sharp edges. This is a practical and affordable solution. Both my RV and my kitchen are fantastic with it. For my purposes, it works really well. We'll have to wait and see how it holds up over time, but I believe a lengthy lifespan is just a bonus. similar to the extra glove they inserted for the rookies. Haha.

Kids, in my experience, like to try everything. When feasible, I like to just give them some safety gear and let them try helping because it is easier to let them help in the kitchen than to explain things like "this is sharp and might hurt you." When they observed me peeling potatoes for a large family turkey dinner, the kids were quite eager to do the same. Before, the parents would forbid children from using the pointed peelers. They were quite effective. They match the advertised age ranges (got the 8-12 and 4-8 sizes). Both the peeler and the potato could be held by the children. Many slips that may have resulted in nicks and wounds just slipped off the gloves. After supper, I threw the gloves in the washing machine, and the stains from the potato peels came out easily.
