Instead of calling the plumber as usual, we chose to install it ourselves after hearing Moen's promises about how simple their duralock system was to install. For the first time ever, my husband and I finished a plumbing project without a catastrophe, without having to hire a plumber at the eleventh hour, without having to spend an extra $200, and—most importantly—while still getting along.Our 37-year-old sink is a double bowl stainless steel design. Since it has been here for a long, upgrading the kitchen is not financially feasible. However, updates can be made incrementally, and this faucet did just that. My sink and prep area's appearance, ambience, and usability have all been completely altered. (Plus, I've received lots of compliments, and now my friends are the first to see it in my kitchen!)Because of the spring arch's additional height, I can fit large pasta and stew pans right underneath it, as well as a bucket if necessary. The entire spring arm swivels, allowing you to move it out of the way, and the hose naturally extends so you can reach and spray everywhere you need to. One feature I enjoy is that when you turn on the water after turning on the spray setting, the switch automatically switches back to the usual flow, so there is no abrupt spray. It has taken some time for me to get into the habit of pulling the handle toward me for cold and pushing it away for heat.The base plate is an additional purchase; we changed a three hole faucet and had to buy separate plugs for the additional two holes. This is my only complaint. A large company like Moen might add that base plate at this pricing point.

Yes, I'm serious. We visited kitchen specialist shops and examined $700 kitchen faucets. I absolutely like this Kraus faucet. It's expertly crafted and appears to be a high-quality item. Even better, it already has supply lines attached, which allowed me to save an additional $15. The "direction" of the hot water draw, which is toward you rather than away, was the only (very minor) "nit" that prevented me from giving it a perfect score of 5. According to what I've read, if a youngster were to mistakenly turn it on, it might get too hot. It takes some time for the hot water to start because we have a "tankless" water heater, but that's not a major concern (plus my youngest grandchild is now old enough not to hurt herself). However, in order to receive a 5 (at least in my opinion), the product must be of the highest quality, look fantastic, perform flawlessly, AND have the finest design imaginable (see above).
