I reasoned that this was a better option because I didn't feel ready for a real sword just yet and because I actually like my feet and toes. LolThis wooden sword is well constructed and appears real from a distance, which is exactly what I need it for. I like the weight, but I would have like more of a curve to the shaft, which is kind of rounded instead of looking like a real sword, forcing it to lie on its side rather than upright or upside-down. It appears rather straight to me.Overall, it is a decent weight and length to practice balance while doing hip exercises and shimmies until I feel confident enough to use the actual thing. Not too bad considering the cost.

It is obviously for learning Tai Chi sword form rather than for sparring. In example, because some reviews stated splinter, I used sand paper to grind or polish any spot that can create splinter. The ornate carving and wood grain on the sword were then enhanced by staining. Now it appears good. For a five-day session, I used it. This novice's hands won't get sore from it being excessively hefty. Thus, I adore it.
