We have some wonderful silicone pads, but they aren't always effective, therefore we required some gloves. We frequently use cast iron, and trying to lift and remove a skillet from the oven—especially from the tiny toaster oven—often resulted in burns. These devices extend far enough up the arms that it is virtually impossible to accidentally touch a hot surface with the back of your hand or an exposed lower arm. To say they're big would be an understatement, and I could definitely fit both of them into the glove if I had two hands on one arm. The only drawback is that with some bulky long sleeves, it's difficult to pull it over what I'm wearing because the black section of the arm is narrow. These look brand new even though they have only been worn for a few months and are used nearly every day compared to the cloth mitts we previously had that need frequent replacement due to excessive burn marks. While hitting the elements on the top of the toaster oven and both electric ovens is a given, it has no effect on these beasts. These aren't the ones to get if you have little hands and want something that fits a bit snug, but I enjoy some leeway in there and they suit both my large hands and my wife's considerably smaller hands perfectly. With both gloves on, it is simple to reach into the oven, hold both handles of the cast iron skillets with confidence, and control them completely when they are removed. Because cast iron retains heat so well, it was damaging the adhesive on the Formica countertops, so we also use the pads as trivets. Silicone is my go-to material because it works great even in our spatulas. And cleaning it is a breeze. I did make the comparison because my hazardous waste gloves are big, cumbersome, and reach my elbows when I use them to handle oils, cleaning solvents, and some pesticides.

I like that these are cotton mittens with a grippy silicone component because wearing gloves made entirely of silicone makes me feel uneasy. These mitts look decent and are quite useful while still being very comfy. Using them to remove hot items from the oven always made me feel in control. These fit as well as any oven mitt I've ever worn, and I'm a 5'7" guy with average-sized hands. They hang inside a cabinet while not in use thanks to the stitched-in loops.I chose the gray version so they wouldn't clash or be in any way similar to the other colorful items in my kitchen, such as my vintage stand mixer or my enamel cookware. I bought these to replace a set of hand-me-down cotton oven mitts and potholders that were extremely, extremely old. What a distinction. I had some reservations about the silicone oven mitts' ability to withstand the heat because I had never used them before. I can gleefully say that my doubts were absolutely unwarranted. Newer is occasionally preferable. There is no possibility of unintentionally hitting your forearms on the door thanks to the oven mitts' extra length, which is great for heavier objects. The textured surface is pleasant and gripping, and I can hold onto roasting pans and cookie sheets without the inside of the gloves ever getting warm. Although I read in some reviews that the gloves initially left a tiny residue, I haven't seen that with my set. Also excellent are the pot holders.
