Even while I appreciated having a remote-controlled, non-mechanical timer, I discovered that the light sensor on it wasn't causing it to turn on early enough. I got one of these almost 20 years ago, so it surprised me to see that they have replaced the small pins you used to have to insert with "switches" that you push down to give you 6 hours or whatever. This is the mechanical version I chose, and it's been excellent so far. This has the advantage of allowing for repeated turn-ons and turn-offs in 15-minute intervals. Weather hasn't been an issue thus yet, and there's a manual switch so you may turn the lights on outside the usual operating window. Recommended. (j4.)

When we returned home at night, we encountered issues with our garage door not working. I discovered that the exterior landscape lighting around our house's LED bulbs were to blame. I purchased this remote switch configuration, wired the transformer for the outdoor lighting to it, and placed the remote in our car. We can now remotely switch off the external lighting before remotely opening the garage door and turning it back on when we get home.We have to do it this way, which is irritating, but it works.The one thing I don't like about the system is that you can't buy identical remote controls. You would need to order a new entire system and hope that it included the right keyed remote in order to obtain a new remote. I'd give it five stars if you could get replacement remote controls.

Given that it contains a photocell and is approved for outdoor usage, I got this to go with our LED pond lights. For me, the price of around 11 dollars was perfect. The timer can be set to run for 2, 4, 6, or 8 hours, or it can be left on continuously. Ours was set for four hours. It has worked well for us because there is no need to keep the underwater lights on after we go to bed. It turns on around the same time as our landscape lighting turns on thanks to my Malibu photocell. The only issue I've had with it is that the area at the bottom of the timer where you put things in is a tiny bit recessed, making it impossible to use large plugs like the one that came with my LED lights. as shown in the images I've included. The timer has been fantastic except from that. I should point you that mine is protected from the elements because it is plugged in on our front porch. This timer is quite effective. I adore not having to be concerned with switching on and off the holiday lights! The only mistake I made was not realizing the pins were facing down instead of up when I pulled them out of the box. I started hitting a few of them with the scissor handle because I was becoming a little frustrated, and one of the pins was slightly dented as a result. Everything went smoothly after I realized I had to pop the pins up! Try lifting the black pins up if they are really difficult to turn and won't come down easy to set the time. The timer is really quiet; there is absolutely no noise, and it operates as intended!
