Best Shoe Gaiters in 2022

With the weather finally getting cooler, the days of open-toed shoes and sandals are quickly coming to an end. That means it's time to start thinking about buying new shoes and accessories to keep your feet warm and dry during the colder months. One of the most important items to consider for your winter wardrobe is a good pair of shoe gaiters.

Shoe gaiters are an essential piece of gear for any outdoor enthusiast, and they can be the difference between a comfortable and enjoyable winter walk and an uncomfortable and chilly one. But with so many different styles, materials, and features on the market, how do you choose the best shoe gaiters for your needs?

First, it's important to consider the type of climate and terrain you'll be walking in. Gaiters are designed to protect your feet and ankles from rain, snow, and wind, as well as mud, dirt, rocks, and other debris. If you plan to be walking in wet or muddy conditions, you'll need a pair of waterproof gaiters. On the other hand, if you'll be walking in dry, dusty conditions, breathable material is the way to go.

Next, you'll want to consider the fit. The best gaiters should fit snugly around the ankle and calf, and should be adjustable for a comfortable fit. Make sure you try on the gaiters before you buy them to make sure they fit correctly.

Finally, think about the features you need. Many gaiters come with additional features, such as integrated pockets for carrying small items, or reflective patches for added visibility in low-light conditions. Make sure you choose a pair of gaiters with the features you need for your particular activity.

With these tips in mind, you'll be sure to find the perfect pair of shoe gaiters for your winter adventures. Whether you're an avid hiker or just want to keep your feet warm and dry during the colder months, a good pair of gaiters will make sure you stay comfortable and protected.

I've been wearing these gaiters for the past two weeks on my lunchtime walks across a variety of terrains, and I've been pleasantly impressed by how simple they are to adjust and how comfortable they are in comparison. The LOPOO leg gaiters provide adequate protection from splashes (mud, puddles, snow, slush, and the occasional cow pat! ), clawing grasses and vegetation, and even managed to keep my lower legs dry after being splashed by a motorist. Once the gaiters were fastened, I found walking with them on to be very comfortable and actually forgot they were there. They fully dried off my lower legs.

I bought a set of them for my wife and me. Although we haven't yet had an opportunity to use them while snowshoeing, I have no doubts that they will perform admirably when we do. They are quite cozy, and the Velcro holds on firmly. We were really aback by how much warmer they also made your legs. I'm looking forward to hiking without wet socks caused by snow. We're delighted we purchased the following size up from what the size chart recommended. Perfect!

The sneaker/boot hook on the top of the shoe/boot keeps the cover in place and the Velcro closure works really well. It would be preferable if the strap beneath the shoe, sneaker, or boot were made of leather. It is best if your shoe has a "dip" on the bottom directly in front of the heal, ensuring that it stays in place. The strap wiggles around under the foot if your shoe, like a sneaker, has a flat bottom. But hey, the pricing is still reasonable. When I'm working in the yard or trekking, anything that bites, stings, or crawls tends to get me below the knees. Long pants of any kind are simply too hot to wear, especially during warm weather when I wish to wear shorts or Capris. These offer excellent covering while not making you perspire. I haven't come across a snake yet, so I can't comment on it. For use in the fall and winter, when I do wear longer, heavier pants, I purchased the larger size.

This will be useful for this winter's hiking and snowshoeing. Despite being well-stitched and made of durable material, the gaiters are nonetheless rather light. The inside of the gaiters is lined on both the top and bottom to make them waterproof. The tag on the top inside of the gaiters read "M," thus I must have received the Medium even though I bought the Large size. Fortunately, they fit perfectly and there is some opportunity for fine tuning thanks to the 2 inch wide velcro closure that extends the entire length of the gaiter, from top to bottom. The gaiters have buckle straps on the top and bottom for additional adjustment. The gaiters stay in place after being adjusted. The gaiters can also be folded flat for portability.

Because I used gaiters for many years while walking through the snow to carry mail, I am familiar with them. These are excellent. Strong, waterproof, anchored, and all in a lovely black hue. They appear to be designed for individuals with relatively narrow legs. I'm a woman with quite thin legs, thus these suit me well. These can be too tight if your calves are medium to huge.

I recently used these on a four-day, 50-mile backpacking trip. Despite being on loose ground and even sand, they held up well and didn't get any dirt or rocks in my trail runners. Even though I was wearing low socks, these really kept debris out and prevented blisters on my ankles, which is how I prefer to travel with my trailrunners tied loose. The band under the shoe hasn't worn out yet, which is better than I expected. Additionally, the Velcro retained its ability to adhere. I ordered a medium despite wearing a women's size 9.5. My shoe didn't fit in the small. Since I put a lot of miles on these even before the backpacking trip, I'll probably get an additional because I don't want to be without them.

I just had the opportunity to wear these on a hunting trip, and they were quite sturdy and effective at keeping briars and dirt off of my pants. The fact that the leg cinch and buckles are made of metal means that they will probably hold up better to misuse. Because they are so adaptable, my wife, who is about 5 inches shorter than I am, was able to wear them comfortably on a trek as well. All in all, these gaiters are excellent and ought to last a long time.

This purchase was somewhat impulsive, but gosh do I like them! They were very innovative, according to my guide as well. They were unlike anything he had ever seen. I bought these so I could go hiking in Colombia's cloud and rain woods. While they certainly won't prevent water from getting into your shoes if you are submerging them, they are excellent at hiding your socks and bottom of your jeans. I usually apply permethrin to my socks before tucking my quick-drying slacks into them (leaving some sock exposed). These covered that pant-shoe bridge JUST PERFECTLY. Getting your socks wet is terrible, but these did a great job of protecting them. These are ideal when you are hiking through wet terrain. You can make the necessary modifications.

Review:

Simple to use gaiters, but unless you purchase some velcro for the back of your shoe, they only work with Altras. I have a pair of wrap-around salomons that can be worn with anything, however the straps catch on roots and pebbles as they pass under the shoe. These are breathable and prevented rocks and trail mud from getting into my shoes while I was running 50 miles. They are rather snug to the shoe and your leg without rubbing your skin, although I didn't use them in sand.
