I've loved using an Estwing framer since I was 16 years old. I obtained the current one when I was 24 years old, and I am now 33. Although it looks terrible, it still functions perfectly. They cut the grip just a little bit too short, which costs this guy a star. When you truly need to wale on something, you need that distance to give you the force, even if I am aware that you frequently need to choke up on a single hand hammer. I'm a little hesitant to attack this subject head-on as well. The hold just seems too flimsy. I don't need the thing to break when I'm swinging like Babe Ruth at a flat piece of concrete. It might just be in my head. Overall, Estwing creates excellent products, albeit I might only call this one good.

I bought this to assist in framing so that I could move the headers and footers of walls during a remodel when I didn't have enough space for a large sledge to swing. This has substantial hitting force and is not too hefty to use for long periods of time. I also break up tiny areas of concrete with this and a cold chisel. A nice little sledge! There is almost no shaking up the handle. I anticipate this staying in the toolbox for a very long time.

great first hammer for blacksmithing I wish it had a hardwood handle because this one melts when hot steel is dropped on it, but I find it to be extremely comfortable anyway. I did have to slightly round the peen and dress the face of the hammer, but I believe it is to be anticipated for a hammer in this price range.
